A garden centre has been targeted for a second time after a woman was caught stealing £635 worth of Jellycats.

The large haul of soft toys were taken from St Peters Garden Centre, Worcester, which now has been forced to lock them in a glass cabinet to prevent further theft.

Footage filmed on August 11, 2025 shows the woman stuffing the toys into a number of shopping bags.

Jellycats are collectable stuffed toys, of different sizes and shapes that have hugely grown in popularity in the last year.

It's the second theft this summer after £400 worth of Jellycat soft toys were taken in June 2025.

Jamie Armstrong, digital manager of St Peter's Garden Centre said: "The incident was caught on CCTV. "

"We noticed that there was stock missing and then checked CCTV and saw it. "

"I believe they came back in again and it flashed up on our camera and they were able to be escorted out the business." "

The garden centre then reported it to West Mercia Police where enquiries are currently ongoing.

This comes after the same garden centre was targeted in a similar incident in June where a woman stole £400 worth of Jellycats.

The woman, 38, was fined £120 and ordered to pay the value of the Jellycats back to the garden centre.

St Peters says the increase in theft is due to an drive in demand and has now been forced to lock the toys away in glass cabinets.

Mr Armstrong said: "We have experienced an increase in Jellycat theft."

"Our Jellycats are now in locked cabinets."

"People aren't playing nicely so they have to go in a locked glass cabinet unfortunately."

The newly installed "Jellycat jail" features signs instructing customers to speak to customer services if they wish to purchase one. "

Mr Armstrong added: "The demand for Jellycats has risen and the price has risen. Quite regularly they are sold online. "

"They are sold on private Facebook forums where people are buying them on the second-hand market because people are trying to find them for cheaper." "

"In the garden centre world people are posting about this happening as a deterrent. We posted the video as a deterrent. "

"It helps us fund the people and also acts as a deterrent."

A spokesperson for West Mercia Police said: "We received a report on the 11 August of the theft of soft toys from St Peters Garden Centre in Worcester."

"Enquiries are on-going."
