GROUP OF PEOPLE HOLDING ISRAELI FLAG LONDON, UK - AUGUST 22, 2025: Pro-Palestinian demonstrators staged a protest outside the Israeli Embassy in London, United Kingdom, on Friday, Aug. 22. Protesters clanged pots and pans to draw attention to the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, where Israeli attacks and blockade have caused widespread hunger and famine. The demonstrators voiced opposition to Israel’s policies in Gaza. By banging empty pots, they highlighted the civilians dying of hunger and protested Israel’s policy of starving Palestinians, while also denouncing plans to occupy the besieged enclave. During the protest, a small group of people was seen holding Israeli flags in a counter-protest. Gaza’s Health Ministry said at least 271 people, including 112 children, died of starvation and malnutrition in the Gaza Strip. The UN agency for Palestinian refugees said Friday that famine in Gaza, deliberately created by the Israeli government, is confirmed, after also being formally confirmed by the UN-backed global hunger monitoring system IPC. Israel has killed more than 62,100 Palestinians in its ongoing genocide in Gaza since October 2023. The military campaign has devastated the enclave, which is facing famine. Last November, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza. Israel also faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice for its war on the enclave. Writing by Ayse Elif Erdis
