An Indian Army helicopter conducted a daring evacuation from a collapsing building in Madhopur, Himachal Pradesh, on August 27.

Footage shows the aircraft hovering right next to the building before and after it collapsed into the raging floodwater.

The incident took place near Madhopur Headworks, in Pathankot district, in northern India's Punjab, on August 27.

Visuals show that floodwaters are rising over riverbanks, submerging multi-story buildings. People of the Indian Army are seen arriving by helicopter to rescue those stranded.

According to reports, at 6 am today, Army Aviation helicopters were deployed to rescue stranded individuals despite difficult conditions. All those trapped were safely evacuated.
Remarkably, the building where they had been taking shelter collapsed shortly after the evacuation, underscoring the precision and urgency of the operation.

This successful mission highlights the Indian Army’s steadfast dedication to protecting lives and its swift response during emergencies. Coordination between the Army and local authorities prevented a potential disaster.

Flooding in Punjab has worsened as water levels in the Sutlej, Beas, and Ravi rivers, along with seasonal streams, have risen following heavy rainfall in the catchment areas of Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir, submerging vast stretches of farmland and villages.

The situation has been aggravated by the release of surplus water from the Pong, Bhakra, and Ranjit Sagar dams, raising fears of extensive crop damage in multiple districts. Among the worst-hit areas are the districts of Pathankot, Gurdaspur, Fazilka, Kapurthala, Tarn Taran, Ferozepur, and Hoshiarpur.
