Israeli airstrike kills 7, including 2 children, in Bureij camp of Gaza Strip
GAZA STRIP, PALESTINE (AUGUST 28, 2025) (ANADOLU- ACCESS ALL)
COMPLETE SHOTLIST TO FOLLOW GAZA STRIP, PALESTINE - AUGUST 28: An Israeli airstrike on Thursday killed at least seven Palestinians, including two children, in the central Gaza Strip, according to medical sources.
The strike targeted a group of people south of the Bureij refugee camp, a densely populated civilian area. Eyewitnesses reported that the attack occurred suddenly, causing widespread panic among residents.
Victims and several wounded individuals were transported to a nearby hospital. Medical teams confirmed that some of the injured were in critical condition. The attack comes as the Gaza Strip suffers from a severe shortage of medical supplies and resources due to a long-standing Israeli blockade.
The fatalities are part of a wider escalation, with at least 36 Palestinians killed in Israeli attacks across the enclave since dawn on Thursday. Among those killed were 19 people seeking aid, medical sources reported.
The ongoing Israeli military campaign, which began in October 2023, has resulted in the deaths of nearly 63,000 Palestinians in Gaza, according to local health authorities. The offensive has devastated the coastal territory, which the United Nations warns is facing a severe famine.
Israel's actions in Gaza have drawn significant international legal scrutiny. Last November, the International Criminal Court (ICC) issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for alleged war crimes and crimes against humanity.
Separately, Israel is facing a case at the International Court of Justice (ICJ), where it is accused of violating the Genocide Convention during its military operation in Gaza.
