The Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) showcases a new form of regional cooperation that may serve as a model in an increasingly multi-polarizing world, according to a Pakistani expert. Leaders from Asia, Europe and Africa will gather in the northern Chinese port city of Tianjin from Aug. 31 to Sept. 1 for the largest-ever SCO summit in history. Established in 2001, the organization now has 10 member states, alongside two observer states and 14 dialogue partners. Over the years, the SCO has evolved from a security-focused body to a broader platform of economic, political, and cultural partnerships.
