United States - August 26, 2025 Authorities announced Tuesday that evacuation orders tied to the Pickett Fire have been lifted as firefighters near full containment of the blaze. The sheriff’s office said all evacuation orders and warnings were canceled as of 12 p.m., but areas inside the fire perimeter remain restricted to emergency personnel. The trail system at Robert Louis Stevenson Park is still closed. Cal Fire’s Lake-Sonoma-Napa Unit reported the fire has burned 6,819 acres and is 90% contained. Five structures were destroyed in the blaze that began on the afternoon of Aug. 21 near Pickett Road, northeast of Kenefick Ranch Vineyard and Winery, outside Calistoga city limits. The Napa County Office of Emergency Services earlier declared a local state of emergency. “Firefighters continue tactical patrols of control lines and mop up. Fire suppression repair is nearing completion. Minimal fire activity is anticipated,” the agency said in its Tuesday afternoon update. More than 1,000 fire personnel remained on scene as crews worked to secure control lines and complete suppression repairs. Officials warned the cause of the fire remains under investigation. Local officials also flagged the fire’s heavy toll on agriculture: the Napa County Agriculture Commissioner offered a preliminary estimate of $65 million in damages, largely affecting the wine industry.
