Illegal Israeli settlers seize home in Hebron, hold provocative party
SHOTLIST: HEBRON, PALESTINE (SEPT. 3, 2025) (ANADOLU - ACCESS ALL) 1. VARIOUS OF PALESTINIAN HOUSE SEIZED BY ILLEGAL ISRAELI SETTLERS / ISRAELI FLAGS ON PALESTINIAN HOUSE'S WINDOWS AND WALLSHEBRON, PALESTINE - SEPT. 3, 2025: The municipality of Hebron in the southern occupied West Bank said on Wednesday, Sept. 3, that Israeli settlers stormed a Palestinian home in the city’s Old Town and held a provocative party. In a statement, the municipality condemned the seizure of a house adjacent to the old municipal building in the heart of Hebron’s Old Town by settler groups under the protection of Israeli occupation forces, and their organization of a provocative party in the municipal square. It stressed that the act was part of a systematic policy aimed at Judaizing the Old Town and imposing a new reality on the ground by attacking citizens’ properties and blocking main streets, describing it as a clear violation of international law and norms. The statement added that the municipality continues to pursue legal measures to safeguard the city’s cultural and historical heritage. Footage circulated on social media showed settlers dancing and celebrating around the seized house while Israeli flags were hung on its walls. On Aug. 20, Israel approved a major settlement project, called E1, which aims to split the occupied West Bank into two parts, cutting off the northern cities of Ramallah and Nablus from Bethlehem and Hebron in the south and isolating East Jerusalem. The international community, including the UN, considers the Israeli settlements illegal under international law. The UN has repeatedly warned that continued settlement expansion threatens the viability of a two-state solution, a framework seen as key to resolving the decades-long Palestinian-Israeli conflict. In an advisory opinion last July, the International Court of Justice declared Israel’s occupation of Palestinian territory illegal and called for the evacuation of all settlements in the West Bank and East Jerusalem.
