Port St. Lucie, United States - September 01, 2025 A masked 15-year-old thief was caught after a dramatic police chase when a citizen tackled him inside a store, helping officers bring the pursuit to an end. According to the Port St. Lucie Police Department (PSLPD), the incident began at Mattress Firm, where the thief abandoned an empty jewelry box. The store manager, suspecting trouble, contacted the nearby Burlington store. Staff there confirmed that a theft had taken place and identified the suspect as the same individual who left the jewelry box behind. While police were responding, officers spotted the suspect sitting on a park bench in the area. The suspect, still wearing a balaclava, bolted as soon as officers approached. Witnesses pointed police toward Publix, where the chase continued. As the teen tried to escape through the supermarket’s front door, officers were already closing in. At that moment, a citizen intervened, tackling the suspect and helping police end the chase.
