Storyline: AI dispatchers, robots ensure grid stability in east China's Hangzhou [Voice_over] Power utility companies in east China's Hangzhou City are increasingly turning to artificial intelligence to ensure a stable electricity supply amid soaring summer demand. The State Grid Hangzhou Power Supply Company is using an AI-powered dispatch system, which can analyze the city's entire power load in just three seconds. Company officials say compared to previous dispatch methods, the AI model is four times as efficient in scheduling Hangzhou's power grid, balancing a load of nearly 4 million kilowatts and boosting the grid's power supply capacity by 18.5 percent. [Sound_bite] Liao Pei, Deputy Director, dispatching center, State Grid Hangzhou Power Supply Company: "During the peak summer period, Hangzhou's electricity load nearly doubles compared to normal levels, which multiplies the demand on our scheduling capacity. Handling hundreds of thousands of dispatch targets and millions of data points is something human operators can't accomplish quickly." [Voice_over] The power utility company is also leveraging AI and robotics to enhance its equipment inspection and maintenance operations. At the company's AI training base, technicians are using augmented reality platforms to train humanoid robots, robotic dogs, and unmanned vehicles to recognize and operate switches, cables, meters and other power equipment. Company officials say their inspection robots currently have an operational range of up to 10 kilometers. Going forward, officials say, they'll be deployed for inspection work across 488 substations, checking more than 9,800 kilometers of transmission lines, and over 12,000 distribution rooms in Hangzhou.
