Siracusa, Italy – 11 Sep 2025: The Global Sumud Flotilla boats arrived in Siracusa to music and Palestinian flags before a press conference. Young activist Simone said their hardships are nothing compared to those of the Palestinian people. MEP Benedetta Scuderi urged PM Giorgia Meloni and EU institutions to provide full diplomatic protection, while MEP Annalisa Corrado declared, “We stand with the oppressed, never the oppressors.” Five Star MP Marco Croatti denounced governments for ignoring reported incendiary drone attacks in Tunisia. Journalist Barbara Schiavulli, covering Palestine for 30 years, joined the flotilla in memory of fallen colleagues. Italian spokesperson Maria Elena Delia announced that 600 people are expected to reach Gaza as part of the mission.
