Sudan - September 15, 2025 Members of Sudan’s paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) claimed to have shot down what they believed was a Saudi surveillance device, only to discover it was a migratory bird equipped with a GPS tracker used for scientific research. The RSF fighters reportedly celebrated the incident, declaring they had downed “enemy equipment.” The device was later identified as standard wildlife-tracking technology used by ornithologists to monitor bird migration routes.
