London moped rider pulls phone from helmet after crashing into car pulling out of road

A moped rider in Enfield, London, was seen pulling a mobile phone from their helmet after crashing into a car turning right.

The car's driver told Newsflare: "I wasn’t planning to share this, knowing how people react online and how quickly blame gets thrown around. But I’ve decided to post it because what happened could easily happen to someone else and without a dashcam, the story might’ve looked very different.

"On Thursday 18th September at 14:55, I was turning right from Mandeville Road EN3 onto Hertford Road EN3. A car on the right had stopped to give way, and I began pulling out slowly. That’s when I saw a motorcyclist overtaking multiple vehicles on the opposite side — across zigzag lines and a pedestrian crossing, which is illegal under Highway Code Rule 165.

"I stopped immediately, but he changed lanes and collided with my vehicle. After the crash, he pulled a phone from inside his helmet as you can see on the video and presented insurance details, blaming me for the incident. I told him I had a dashcam and that everything would be passed to my insurance.

"I contacted my insurer within 30 minutes and submitted all the details and footage. I don’t know what the outcome will be, but the whole thing felt staged."
