Typhoon Bualoi slammed into the coastal areas of north-central Vietnamese province of Ha Tinh, bringing destructive winds and torrential rains in the early hours of Monday. At around 01:30 local time Monday, Bualoi made landfall in Ha Tinh with strong winds. Even in a place sheltered from the wind and rain, standing and walking outdoors were extremely difficult. Power and internet services have been cut off in several parts of Ha Tinh province. For safety precautions, the Vietnamese government had evacuated tens of thousands of residents from over 10 coastal provinces ahead of Bualoi's landfall and ordered all fishing vessels back to ports. Before its landfall, Bualoi had already impacted several coastal areas of Vietnam with strong winds and rains, with some of them experiencing torrential floods as the typhoon approached Vietnam's coastline on Sunday. Damage is being assessed, with strong winds having already blown off roofs, flattened trees, and toppled power poles in provinces of Ha Tinh and Nghe An, as well as nearby areas. The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam has suspended flights at several airports, including the ones in Dong Hoi and Tho Xuan, from Sunday to Monday, as part of emergency measures. It has also mandated round-the-clock shifts for all concerned departments and strict enforcement of storm response protocols. According to Vietnamese authorities, as of the morning of Monday, Bualoi has killed three people, with two injured and 21 missing in Vietnam. So far, many affected regions have remained without electricity and internet access, making it much harder for accurate damage assessment and ongoing relief efforts.
