This is the horrifying moment a landslide buried a car as Typhoon Bualoi lashed northern Vietnam.

Dashcam footage shows a black SUV stopped on a mountain road moments before a massive flow of earth crashes down, engulfing the vehicle in Cat Cat Village, Sa Pa, Lao Cai Province.

The filming car can be seen quickly reversing to escape, narrowly avoiding the falling debris on September 29.

Another video clip shows the SUV lying down a slope amid continued rainfall. Local reports confirmed all three occupants made it out safely following the collapse.

The storm had struck Vietnam early Monday morning with winds reaching 130 km per hour, leaving at least 26 people dead and 22 missing.

Bualoi had previously caused at least 20 deaths in the Philippines and forced hundreds of thousands of families into evacuation centres.

Thailand's Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation reported that at least seven people were also killed in floods in the country.
