This is the dramatic moment floods caused by Typhoon Bualoi swept a car downstream.

Footage shows the roaring current washing a black pickup truck away as shocked locals watched in Houaphan, Laos, on September 29.

An onlooker said: 'Even a Ford Ranger could not survive the flood.'

The Thai Meteorological Department said Bualoi weakened to a tropical depression after crossing over into Laos from Vietnam.

The storm had struck Vietnam early Monday morning with winds reaching 130 km per hour, leaving at least 26 people dead and 22 missing.

Bualoi had previously caused at least 20 deaths in the Philippines and forced hundreds of thousands of families into evacuation centres.

Thailand's Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation reported that at least seven people were also killed in floods in the country.
