This is the dramatic moment a grandmother on life support was rescued when a landslide cut off power to her home.

The bedridden patient had to be evacuated to a hospital in Chiang Mai, northern Thailand after a power outage left her ventilator unusable.

Footage shows personnel lifting the elderly woman into an ambulance to rush her to the Chiang Dao Hospital on Thursday. Recent landslides obstructed a nine-kilometre (5.6 miles) stretch of road, but the woman safely arrived at the hospital.

Rungroj Duangdee, mayor of Mae Na Subdistrict Municipality, said: 'We dispatched a rescue team to collect the grandmother from her relatives and urgently take her to Chiang Dao Hospital. I have also ordered civil engineers to clear the road.'

Forecasters said Typhoon Ragasa was not expected to touch down in Thailand, but warned that it will strengthen the monsoon trough across the country's northern region, causing heavy rain.

Residents in the affected areas were advised to be vigilant of flash floods, especially along waterways near foothills and lowlands.
