Chinese exchange student, 21, seen assaulting janitor at lounge in Singapore university
A Chinese student was seen assaulting an elderly cleaner at Singapore Management University.
Footage shows the student, dressed in a pink hoodie, allegedly grabbing the 61-year-old worker's hair, shaking her, and kicking her while she was on the ground on September 30.
The student then stepped back to adjust her jacket as the janitor lay motionless on the lounge floor.
Several seconds passed before concerned students rushed to the victim's aid and called for help.
A Singapore Police Force officer told local media: ‘We received a call for assistance at 2:10 pm on Tuesday.'
The janitor was taken to Raffles Hospital for treatment while campus security and police investigated the incident.
The cause of the fight remains unclear, but witnesses claimed the staff member had also pulled the student's hair, prompting the younger woman to slap her back.
A Singapore Management University spokesperson said: ‘The university will address the matter in accordance with the outcome of investigations and our disciplinary procedures once police investigations have concluded.'
