Local residents in Manchester have voiced growing concerns over safety and security following the attack outside a synagogue on Thursday. The attack outside the Heaton Park Hebrew Congregation Synagogue on Middleton Road in Crumpsall on Thursday has killed three, including the suspect. Police said Al Shamie, a British citizen of Syrian descent, drove a car into worshippers, then attacked with a knife while wearing a fake suicide vest. He was shot dead at the scene. The attack has been declared a terrorist incident. Three people injured in the attack remain hospitalized, including one with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound that may also have been caused by police gunfire. Following the incident, the surrounding residential neighborhood was notably subdued despite the presence of police officers and patrol cars. A police cordon remained in place, and outside the barrier, residents laid flowers in memory of the victims. Earlier, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer said in a statement that "additional police assets are being deployed to synagogues across the country." British police said that investigations are ongoing, and additional officers have been deployed to protect public safety. Shotlist: Manchester, UK - Oct 3, 2025: 1.
