Omar Yahya Al-Qarinawi, an 18-year-old from Al-Bureij camp in the central Gaza Strip, was transferred to Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital by International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) vehicles following his release. Al-Qarinawi, who has autism, was initially shot by the Israeli army several months ago while waiting to receive aid near the Netzarim axis in central Gaza. He was subsequently arrested under what sources described as extremely difficult humanitarian circumstances and detained for months. The Israeli military has killed nearly 67,200 Palestinians, most of them women and children, in Gaza since October 2023. The relentless bombardment has rendered the enclave all but uninhabitable and has led to mass displacement, starvation, and the proliferation of disease.
