SHOTLIST: MEXICO CITY, MEXICO (OCT. 8, 2025) (ANADOLU – ACCESS ALL) 1. VARIOUS OF ACTIVISTS GREETING THEIR RELATIVES AND OTHER PEOPLE / PEOPLE CHEERING AND CHANTING SLOGANS / SOME ACTIVISTS DELIVERING SPEECH / PEOPLE CHANTING PRO-PALESTINE SLOGANS AND HOLDING FLAGS 2. (SOUNDBITE) (Spanish) ACTIVIST DIEGO VAZQUEZ GALINDO SAYING: "We were in jail and we heard the bombs passing over us, aimed at Gaza, at this moment, it's about them, but it's also about our own Mexico, because it's the same system, the same system that allows 11 women a day in my country to be murdered just for being women is the same system that allows Palestinians to be dehumanized since 48." "We arrived (home) we are fine, we suffered abuse, yes, we were humiliated, yes, they left us without food, yes, they did not give us anything to drink, yes, they did not give me my medicine and I felt bad, yes, all that yes, but nothing compares even a tenth part with what our Palestinian brothers and sisters suffer daily, and I would do it again tomorrow, if there is another flotilla I will be there too." 3. (SOUNDBITE) (Spanish) ACTIVIST ERNESTO LEDESMA SAYING: "What we wanted was to bring humanitarian aid in the face of a genocide perpetrated by the Israeli government against the Palestinian people of the Gaza Strip and the West Bank. There is a genocide there and the intellectual author of the genocide is the United States and Donald Trump, and the material author of the genocide is Israel and Benjamin Netanyahu." 4. (SOUNDBITE) (Spanish) ACTIVIST SOL GONZALEZ SAYING: "We suffered enough psychological and physical torture, and it was an illegal act. We were not prisoners, and I want that to be clear. We were kidnapped people, taken by force, locked up, and isolated. And yet, we know that the Palestinian people suffer more than that. What is happening in Gaza is unsustainable."MEXICO CITY, MEXICO - OCT. 8, 2025: Six Mexican citizens who took part in the Global Sumud Flotilla, intercepted by Israeli forces in international waters, arrived at Mexico City International Airport on Wednesday, Oct. 8 The group was greeted by relatives, friends, and activists holding banners and flags in solidarity with the flotilla’s mission to deliver humanitarian aid to Gaza and challenge Israel’s blockade. Speaking at the airport, flotilla activists described their experience in detention and renewed their calls for global solidarity with the Palestinian people. “We were in jail and we heard bombs passing over us, aimed at Gaza,” said activist Diego Vazquez Galindo. “They left us without food or water, and I wasn’t given my medicine, but nothing compares to even a tenth of what our Palestinian brothers and sisters suffer daily. I would do it again tomorrow if there were another flotilla.” Another participant, Ernesto Ledesma, said the mission’s goal was to bring humanitarian aid to Gaza and denounced what he described as “a genocide perpetrated by the Israeli government against the Palestinian people.” Sol Gonzalez added that the group was subjected to “psychological and physical torture” during their detention. “We were not prisoners — we were kidnapped, taken by force, locked up, and isolated,” she said. “And yet, we know the Palestinian people suffer far worse. What is happening in Gaza is unsustainable.” Israeli naval forces attacked and seized all of the vessels of the Global Sumud Flotilla beginning last Wednesday and detained more than 470 activists from over 50 countries. The flotilla was attempting to deliver humanitarian aid to Gaza and to challenge Israel’s blockade of the enclave. Israel has maintained the blockade of Gaza, home to nearly 2.4 million people, for almost 18 years. Since October 2023, Israeli military operations have killed more than 67,000 Palestinians in Gaza, most of them women and children. The relentless bombardment has rendered the enclave all but uninhabitable, with widespread starvation and the spread of disease.
