Los Angeles, United States - October 22, 2025 10/22/2025 12:30 pm GMT-0700 ENCINO, LOS ANGELES, Calif. – A group of four bears, including a mother bear and her cubs, was reported lounging in a tree in a residential neighborhood in Encino on Wednesday afternoon. The bears were spotted shortly after midday in the 16000 block of Ashley Oaks, near the hilly area southwest of Hayvenhurst Avenue and Ventura Boulevard. The bears climbed a eucalyptus tree, where they remained, appearing frightened by the commotion surrounding them. While bear sightings are not uncommon in Southern California's foothill neighborhoods, it is unusual to see multiple bears in a populated area. The homeowner's daughter stated that the California Department of Fish and Wildlife had been notified about the bears, but the agency would not respond unless any injuries were reported.
