Located on the slopes of Burdur’s Akdag mountains the ancient city, whose earliest settlement traces date back 12,000 years, has become one of the country’s most popular archaeological destinations for history and archaeology enthusiasts in recent years.

Visitors, who are already captivated by Sagalassos’ grandeur during the day, will soon have the opportunity to explore the site under the glow of night lighting in the new season.

Work on the city’s illumination system continues as part of the preparations.

Officials hope night visits will boost tourism as visitors explore its illuminated theaters, monumental fountains, odeon, and agora in the cooler hours of the evening.
