Girl panics during water survival training being thrown into pool tied and blindfolded
This is the moment a student panicked during a water survival training exercise after being thrown into a pool while hog-tied and blindfolded.
Janelle Joy Macugay appeared nervous as she prepared for the extreme outdoor simulation, where students must remove the rope binding their hands and swim to safety at Triple H in Isabela, the Philippines.
However, the criminology student lost composure and struggled to free herself, prompting her classmates to rescue her on October 25.
Footage shows an instructor tying a black blindfold around Janelle's eyes as she stands beside the swimming pool with her hands and feet bound. Moments later, she is pushed into the water, causing the frantic learner to submerge briefly.
Her classmates, who were in the pool observing the activity, rushed to help when they saw her struggling to breathe. They lifted her out of the water and untied her restraints.
Janelle said: 'Before I tried the water survival activity, I was super nervous because I had never done it before. I didn't even know how to dive or swim. But during the activity, we learned so many things. They taught us how to stay longer underwater, how to dive, how to disarm, and most importantly, how to survive if someone is drowning.
'When it was finally my turn, I got really nervous, and it turned out to be super funny. But I don't take that experience negatively because it gave me confidence and proved that I could actually do it. I was so happy because my second try was successful. I learned that we shouldn't be afraid to try new things, it's better to try than to regret not trying at all, because you'll never know what you're capable of until you do.'
The water survival activity is part of a training programme designed to prepare future police officers for emergency situations in the water.
