Students cheered as they returned from a 148-mile solidarity march across Serbia.

The marches converged in Novi Sad on Saturday, concluding 16 days of walking across the country - one day for each of the victims who died in last year's train station canopy collapse.

The tragic incident had sparked widespread anger over alleged government negligence and corruption, with protesters calling for accountability and political reform.

Footage shows an enthusiastic crowd of locals and supporters - mostly adults in dark winter coats, scarves, and beanies - lining the streets and erupting into cheers as the marchers arrived.

The demonstrators received support from villagers along the route, who offered food and medical assistance to the participants.

Train services between Belgrade and Novi Sad had been suspended on Friday following a reported bomb threat, which many saw as an attempt to discourage people from travelling to Novi Sad for the anniversary.

Police reported that 39,000 people joined the rally, though local media estimated the number of demonstrators reached up to 100,000 on Saturday.
