6. VARIOUS OF CROWDS LINING UP OUTSIDE REOPENED PALESTINE BANK KHAN YOUNIS, GAZA STRIP, PALESTINE - NOV. 9: The Palestine Bank reopened in Gaza, Palestine after two years of closure caused by Israeli attacks and blockade.

Several branches in Gaza City, Khan Younis, and Rafah were damaged or destroyed. The long shutdown forced residents to rely on electronic applications with high commission rates.

The bank resumed operations after the cease-fire, but severe structural damage and limited cash supply created new problems.

Esma al-Lada, who waited in line for hours, said “we have no cash left inside Gaza. Only people who have relatives outside can receive money. Intermediaries charge very high commissions. I hope this problem is solved soon,” she said.

Another resident, Numan Reyhan, also spoke about the hardship, “we wait for long hours. We need cash for food and medicine. Life is very difficult,” he said.

Israel has killed more than 69,000 people, mostly women and children, injured over 170,600 others, and left about 9,500 missing – many believed to be trapped under destroyed homes or still unaccounted for in attacks in Gaza since October 2023.
