Valencia, Spain - November 10, 2025 A massive Taurid fireball streaked across the sky above Valencia at 12:30 a.m. UTC (1:30 a.m. local time), producing a powerful flash visible from several parts of Spain. The extraordinary event was captured from multiple locations hundreds of kilometers apart, including Castellón, Barcelona, and Granada, where witnesses described the fireball as bright enough to dazzle observers at its peak. As the object entered the atmosphere at a speed of 94,000 kilometers per hour, it fragmented and vaporized, leaving behind a glowing trail of dust illuminated by the shockwave. Observers compared the magnitude of this fireball to the spectacular Taurid meteor displays not seen since the resonant swarm return in 2015. The event is believed to be connected to the progressive fragmentation of Comet 2P/Encke, the parent body of the Taurid meteor stream. The bright, persistent trail remained visible after the fireball’s disintegration, marking one of the most striking astronomical phenomena seen over Spain this year.
