Russia says its forces used Tor-M2 missile to destroy Ukrainian drone in Donetsk
This footage reportedly shows a Russian Tor-M2 air defence system destroying a Ukrainian Shark reconnaissance drone on the frontlines.
The aerial attack took place near Pokrovsk in the Donetsk region of Ukraine on November 7, said the Russian Ministry of Defence (MoD).
The Ministry confirmed that a Tor-M2 crew from the 27th Guards Motorised Rifle Division, part of the Central Group of Forces, detected and eliminated the unmanned aerial vehicle while on combat duty.
Officials said the soldiers were monitoring the airspace when the drone was located and struck by a guided missile.
The video clip reportedly shows the system firing a missile as operators track the incoming Ukrainian drone before it is destroyed mid-air.
The Ministry said the division had been tasked with providing air cover for Russian troops advancing in Pokrovsk.
It added that the unit's actions 'ensured the protection of personnel and civilians' in the area.
Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24, 2022, in what the Kremlin is still calling a 'special military operation'.
