Disturbing footage has emerged showing a huge plume of smoke billowing into the sky after a fighter jet crashed at the Dubai Airshow, killing the pilot.

The tragic accident involved an Indian Air Force Tejas jet, which went down during a display flight at the world-renowned event.

Video from the scene shows the aircraft engulfed in flames as it hit the ground, sending a thick column of black smoke into the air.

The crash occurred on the final day of the show, which began on Monday, November 17, at Al Maktoum International Airport.
