A farmer was severely injured when his leg was sucked into a combine harvester in northeast Thailand.

Noppadol Sapjorhor was trying to clear jammed crops with his foot when his boot caught on the harvester's spiral blade.

The whirring mechanism yanked his leg deeper into the chute, and he screamed in pain as it shredded the trapped limb. His friends managed to shut off the machine before his leg could be fully severed.

Rescuers rushed to the scene in Nakhon Ratchasima province at 10:30 pm local time, where they found Noppadol responsive but nearing collapse as he battled through the pain.

Footage shows medics administering IV fluids, painkillers, and oxygen while the rescue team carefully removes the blade lodged in his flesh.

Barely conscious, Noppadol was rushed to the hospital with a bone partially exposed from his mangled left calf.

A rescue worker said: 'He told us he had climbed into the harvester to push down the stuck rice, but his boot got caught in the and his leg was dragged in. He screamed for help, and luckily, his friends managed to turn it off just in time. He was so close to losing his leg and his life.'
