Trafiku Urban, the city’s main public transport company, cited financial difficulties and fuel shortages as reasons for the halt of all routes until payments are made. Similar suspensions were reported by private bus operators.
Earlier today, transport workers gathered outside Pristina Municipality and later at the Kosovo government building, demanding resolution on unpaid wages. Pristina Mayor Perparim Rama joined the protest, blaming the Kosovo government for the crisis.
The bus stoppage has worsened traffic congestion in Pristina, with dozens of buses seen idle in parking areas.
Kosovo faces ongoing political turmoil as it prepares for early general elections on December 28, following failure to form a new government after the February 9 vote.
The municipal budget for 2025 remains unapproved in parliament, blocking financial support to city services.
