PRISTINA, KOSOVO - NOV. 27: Kosovo Security Force (FSK) opened its barracks to the public across the country on Wednesday as part of the annual “Force Day” events held on November 27.

The ceremony at the Adem Jashari Barracks in Pristina brought together President Vjosa Osmani, Parliament Speaker Dimal Basha, Prime Minister Albin Kurti, Defense Minister Ejup Maqedonci and other officials.

Visitors viewed a display of military equipment showcased by the FSK.

President Osmani told reporters that Kosovo’s military was becoming more operational and professional each day.

Prime Minister Kurti said the government had invested more than 430 million euros over the last four years in weapons and equipment purchases for the FSK.

FSK traditionally opens its barracks to the public every November 27 to mark “Force Day.”

Established in 2009 to conduct crisis management operations inside and outside Kosovo, as well as civil protection and disaster response, the FSK began a transformation into an armed force following legal changes in 2018. The transition is expected to take 10 years.

Turkish troops serving under NATO’s Kosovo Force (KFOR) since 1999 have contributed to the FSK’s transformation process, and the force’s inventory now includes numerous Turkish-made systems.

In December 2024, the Kosovo government and Türkiye’s Mechanical and Chemical Industry Corporation (MKE) signed an agreement to establish a factory in Kosovo to produce ammunition of various calibers.
