Elderly man loses balance on escalator but is caught by passing police volunteer
This heartwarming video was recorded on 21 November 2025 in Jiaxing, Zhejiang.
In the CCTV footage, an elderly man riding the escalator alone suddenly becomes unsteady and is moments away from falling backwards. Patrol auxiliary officer Yuan Xinmin, who happened to be on the descending escalator, noticed what was happening and quickly grabbed the man’s arm across the handrail. Kind-hearted members of the public, including Mr Qian and Ms Deng, also reached out to help, working together to steady the man on the moving escalator and prevent an accident.
