The project is led by Peruvian paleontologist Mario Urbina, whose team is known for uncovering some of the country’s most significant paleontological discoveries.
The newly restored specimen is a Pelagornis, an extinct giant seabird believed to have had a wingspan of several meters. The fossil was found two months ago in the Ica Desert, south of Lima.
Once the restoration process is finished, the fossil will be formally unveiled to the public, marking another milestone for Urbina and his team.
