China: Wild pandas captured on cameras in northwest China's Shaanxi
Two wild giant pandas were captured on infrared cameras strolling through forests at the Huangbaiyuan National Nature Reserve in northwest China's Shaanxi Province. A daytime footage shows an adult giant panda in robust health walking steadily through an arrow bamboo forest of the Qinling Mountains. As it walks, the panda pauses to sniff the ground with its head down, seemingly trying to identify scent markings left by other pandas. In a nighttime footage, another adorable giant panda slips and falls into a small pit while attempting to cross it. However, it quickly adjusts its posture and wiggles its rear as it climbs out of the pit. Shaanxi's Huangbaiyuan National Nature Reserve is located on the southern slope of the central Qinling Mountains. The reserve boasts diverse vegetation, including the Bashan wood bamboo and Qinling arrow bamboo, both of which are favored foods of the giant panda. In addition to giant pandas, the infrared cameras also captured images of various rare wildlife, including takins, forest musk deer, black bear, and golden pheasants.
