GAZA, PALESTINE - DECEMBER 4, 2025: Six members of a Palestinian family, including children, were laid to rest in Khan Younis after Israeli forces struck their tent overnight in the al-Mawasi area, in a new violation of the ceasefire agreement.
The strikes came shortly after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu threatened to “respond accordingly” to the injury of soldiers in clashes with Palestinian fighters in Rafah.
Relatives wailed over the bodies as they prepared them for burial, recounting how four rockets slammed into a cluster of tents sheltering dozens of displaced families in al-Mawasi, an area officially designated as a “safe zone” for civilians.
Rafet Hashim Abu Hussein, a family member who survived the strike, said the victims had moved to al-Mawasi because it was considered one of the few remaining safe places near hospitals.
“They set up their tents in an area the world told us was safe. But they were hit with four rockets. Six members of our family were martyred, and many others were wounded. These tents sheltered defenseless civilians, nothing else,” he said.
Appealing to the international community, Abu Hussein added: “Enough. The world must stop this bloodshed. Women, children, the elderly, they are all being targeted. We are just asking to live like human beings.”
Israel has killed more than 70,000 people, mostly women and children, and injured nearly 171,000 others in its genocide in Gaza since October 2023.
