VIENNA, AUSTRIA - DEC. 5: The 32nd Ministerial Council of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) concluded Friday, Dec. 5, in the Austrian capital after two days of high-level talks focused on pressing international security issues.

The meeting, hosted at Vienna's historic Hofburg Palace, brought together representatives from all 57 OSCE participating states, predominantly foreign ministers, alongside delegates from 11 partner nations for cooperation.

Discussions during the council addressed a wide array of global security concerns. Key topics included the ongoing war in Ukraine, the situation in Gaza, and the peace agreement process between Azerbaijan and Armenia. Delegates also engaged in dialogues on a broad spectrum of other transnational security matters.

A central theme emerging from the proceedings was the future of the OSCE itself.

In a procedural handover, the OSCE Chairpersonship for 2026 was formally transferred from Finland to Switzerland. The Swiss leadership will commence at the start of the coming year, steering the organization's agenda through 2026.
The OSCE, headquartered in Vienna, is the world's largest regional security organization, with a comprehensive approach encompassing politico-military, economic, environmental, and human dimensions of security.
