Video footage shows the moment a man wanted by police over an alleged murder was found up a tree.

Thomas Perales, 38, was taken into custody on December 5, 2025, in the area of 120th Avenue and Interstate 25 in Westminster, Colorado.

Perales is accused of killing Annette Valdez, 37, after her body was found in Willowbrook Park, Westminster. Perales has not yet entered a plea.

Footage shows the moment the police surround Perales after he climbed up a tree.

After a 20-minute standoff, Perales came down and was arrested by authorities and taken to Adams County Jail,

Colorado.

Perales is facing several charges, including abuse of a corpse, violation of a protection order/domestic violence, tampering with physical evidence, and murder in the second degree.

A passerby, who filmed the footage, said: "I saw all these officers arriving at the scene with big weapons, pointing to the tree."

"They had K9 dog units, and drones flying around to see where this guy is."

"The guy came down from the tree, and the police were ready for him."

"I initially thought there was a bomb in the area. I knew something very bad was going on."

A spokesperson for Westminster Police Department confirmed Perales was taken into custody and the charges.

They added: "When Perales was first contacted by Northglenn PD officers that day, he took off and climbed up a tree."
