Chippy creates giant foot-long 'pigs in blankets' - which are 1,115 calories each
A fish and chip shop has created what could be Britain's largest pigs in blankets - a giant foot long battered sausage which are more than 1,000 calories each.
The whopping Christmas treat, which only costs £3.85, is up for grabs at family-run George's Fish Bar, in Bourne, Lincs.
Each one uses a specially made 12.5 inch 80 per cent pork sausage and is wrapped in four rashers of streaky bacon.
Owner George Georgiou says the shop sells around 200 of the monster sausages a day and revealed a batch takes around an hour to make.
A batch uses over 10kg (22lbs) of bacon a day and is estimated to be roughly 1,115 calories.
George, 46, said: "We put them all together in the shop ourselves after buying them in foot long 80 per cent pork sausages."
"They're going for £3.85, which is very cheap. We kept it at a low price because we're not doing it to make massive profit, we want to give back to the customers ."
"The customers like them and many will wait for them. We started December 1 and we'll be offering them to Christmas Eve."
"It takes an hour to knock them all together, dip them in the clean veg oil daily. We use 10kg of bacon a day, there's four strips of streaky per sausage, so it's quite something."
"I order them from the factory. The standard sausage is 5.5 inches and we've ordered a 12 inch and gone for it. "
"We've get them in twice a week and people just burn through them."
One happy customer Finn Morris, 43, said: "They are incredible and I keep going back for more. "
"I'm not sure the waistline is going to cope but it is Christmas afterall. It's the biggest pig in blanket I've ever seen."
