Long Island has recorded its first measurable snowfall since February 2025, as wet, heavy snow blanketed parts of the region under a winter weather advisory. Around two inches of snow had already accumulated in East Islip, with forecasters warning that an additional one to two inches could still fall.

Visuals show thick flakes covering residential streets, parked cars, and outdoor decks, creating slushy conditions as temperatures hovered near the freezing mark of 32 degrees Fahrenheit. The near-freezing temperatures and moisture-laden snow made for rapid accumulation, while freezing fog added to reduced visibility in some areas.

Authorities have advised residents to remain cautious while traveling, as untreated roads and walkways could become slippery as the snowfall continues.
