A dramatic and frightening incident unfolded yesterday afternoon on the Samruddhi Expressway near the Karmad exit in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar district. An SUV travelling along the expressway suddenly went out of control — and shortly after, the vehicle caught fire.

Fortunately, all five passengers inside acted fast. Thanks to the car doors being unlocked, they managed to scramble out immediately and escape the burning vehicle just moments before it was engulfed in flames.

Officials say there were no fatalities in the incident. But given the history of serious accidents on this expressway — including multiple deadly fire-related crashes — the episode has once again raised serious concerns about road and vehicle safety on Samruddhi.
