Video shows violent indoor shaking in Aomori Prefecture: a chandelier swinging wildly, furniture and fixtures trembling — a chilling reminder of the quake’s force and how people inside buildings experienced the tremor.

Late on December 8, 2025, a magnitude 7.6 earthquake struck off the coast of Aomori Prefecture, triggering tsunami warnings for the northeastern coast of Japan. Authorities warned that waves up to 3 metres could hit coastal areas in Hokkaido, Aomori and Iwate prefectures. Residents in coastal zones have been ordered to evacuate to safer, elevated areas immediately. The unsettling footage — chandelier swinging, buildings swaying — reflects the real danger and urgency of the situation as families scramble to respond.
