3. VARIOUS OF VISITORS VIEWING STATUES LUXOR, EGYPT - DEC. 14: Restored statues of King Amenhotep III, known as the “Sun King,” have been installed at his Mortuary Temple on the West Bank of the historic southern city of Luxor following extensive conservation work.

Authorities held a ceremony to mark the return of the monuments to the site near the Medinet Habu complex. Following the ceremony, visitors and tourists gathered to view the imposing figures in their original setting.

Amenhotep III ruled Egypt during the New Kingdom period between 1390 and 1352 BC. Historians regard him as one of the most prolific builders and architects of the New Kingdom era.
