Shocking security footage shows deadly ambush in Ohio
Shocking security footage captured what appears to be a planned ambush at an apartment complex where a man was fatally shot inside his vehicle.
Police in Ohio in the USA say the shooting occurred on December 12 at the Oakwood Garden Apartments in Springfield Township, where deputies found the victim after responding to reports of gunfire and a crash.
Investigators say multiple vehicles were seen circling the area beforehand, and shell casings were recovered as a maroon SUV fled the scene.
A 20-year-old suspect was arrested, as the incident left residents shaken and concerned about safety.
On December 12 at 7:46 PM, deputies responded to reports of gunfire and a vehicle crash in the 6900 block of Oakfield Drive at the Oakwood Garden Apartments, the Lucas County Sheriff's Office said.
When they arrived, they found that Tanaro Pounds, 21, had been shot while inside a vehicle. He was later pronounced dead.
Investigators recovered multiple shell casings from the parking lot, and a maroon SUV was seen fleeing the area.
Jordan Graves, 20, was arrested and taken into custody.
A Springfield Township resident, who captured the footage via home security camera, said they observed "a guy standing there shooting at a white van, and then he goes in between three cars and runs past my house."
The victim, driving the white van, "got hit by the gun multiple times and was dying and crashed into the building across from me," the witness said."
Security footage from the witness's home reveals suspicious activity leading up to the fatal encounter.
The resident said the shooter "pulls up right in front of my house and he sits there with the lights on" from "7:29 till 7:41, and then he gets out and then the video cuts off, and the next one is him shooting."
What makes this case particularly disturbing is evidence suggesting the shooting may have been orchestrated.
The witness said multiple vehicles were involved, describing how "a white SUV, a white car, and a red SUV pull in all at the same time and are just sitting there." "
The witness said these same cars "had been driving in and out of my parking lot like they were waiting on this guy or something" for hours before the shooting."
The witness told investigators that surveillance footage shows the suspicious vehicles "driving just in and out of my parking lot since it started at 5:25 PM and then the shooting didn't happen until 7:45." "
The witness added: "To me, it seemed like some kind of setup because they kept coming in and out of my parking lot checking. "
"They were waiting on somebody or something."
The witness, was in their backyard at the time, said they initially didn't think much of the popping sound.
"I was out back when I heard the gunshots, but I hear gunshots all the time, so I didn't think anything of it," they said. "
The reality of what had occurred only became clear when police arrived at their door.
"I didn't even know any of this until I got a knock on the door," they said. "I opened the door, and there were all kinds of cops and ambulances. "
"The whole parking lot's roped off." "
After learning about the shooting, the witness said they "went back and looked down the videos."
They added: "I was like, holy crap."
