Pilot killed as small plane crashes on Brazil beach
A pilot was killed when a small plane crashed on a beach in Brazil.
The aircraft, reportedly towing an advertising banner, plunged into the sea off Copacabana Beach in Rio de Janeiro on Saturday afternoon.
Authorities confirmed the pilot was found after more than two hours of searching and was taken to a medical examiner for identification.
Footage shows the Cessna 170A, operated by Visual Propaganda Aerea, nose-diving into the water as stunned beachgoers watched in disbelief.
A report from the Aviation Safety Network stated: 'A Cessna 170 crashed off Copacabana Beach. The aircraft was destroyed, and the pilot was killed.'
Local media reported that the advertising company lacked authorisation for the campaign.
The Brazilian Air Force said it has launched an investigation into the cause of the crash.
