Los Angeles, United States - January 02, 2026 01/02/2026 11:05 am GMT-0800 SANTA CLARITA, Calif. – Two people were rushed to a trauma center after a crash involving a tow truck and a box truck shut down portions of Sierra Highway and lanes of State Route 14, authorities said. The crash was reported shortly after 11 a.m. on the southbound lanes of State Route 14, between Placerita Canyon Road and Newhall Avenue. According to CHP’s traffic incident log, a flatbed tow truck transporting a sedan left the freeway, rolled over multiple times, and came to rest on city streets below. The tow truck ultimately landed on Sierra Highway, just north of Dockweiler Drive, after departing the elevated freeway. At the same location on southbound Route 14, a separate box truck also rolled over. Investigators have not yet determined whether the box truck struck the tow truck, triggering the tow truck’s departure from the freeway. Paramedics transported two people to a trauma center in unknown condition. No additional injuries were immediately confirmed. Traffic impacts extended onto surface streets as crews worked to secure the scene, upright the vehicles, and clear debris from both the freeway and Sierra Highway below. The California Highway Patrol Newhall Area Office is investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash. No further details were released as of this afternoon.
