Los Angeles, United States - January 06, 2026 01/06/2026 03:00 am GMT-0800 SANTA CLARITA, Calif. – A fatal traffic collision occurred Tuesday morning on the northbound lanes of Interstate 5, just south of Magic Mountain Parkway. The incident involved a semi-truck, a box truck, and a Toyota Camry. Traffic reports indicate that the collision, which occurred around 3:00 a.m., blocked multiple lanes of the freeway. Emergency responders were dispatched shortly after the incident, and law enforcement requested that several towing companies respond because the vehicles were stuck in traffic. A lane was eventually opened for emergency access. At approximately 3:40 a.m., authorities began diverting traffic off the northbound 5 Freeway at Valencia Boulevard, while crews worked on clearing the scene. The California Highway Patrol advised that the closure would likely remain in effect for at least three hours due to the extent of the incident. As the situation unfolded, additional towing services were requested to assist with disabled vehicles, and firefighters were on standby after one vehicle was reported to be smoking. The investigation into the cause of the collision is ongoing.
