KARS, TÜRKİYE - JAN. 5: Healthcare teams in Türkiye's eastern Kars province are working around the clock to reach patients across snow-covered mountains, navigating extreme weather conditions that have disrupted daily life in the region.

Operating under the Provincial Health Directorate's Emergency and Disaster Health Services Unit, medical teams respond to emergency calls to 112 despite challenging terrain and freezing temperatures.

With village roads blocked by heavy snowfall, healthcare workers utilize tracked and snowtrack ambulances to access remote areas. In locations where vehicular access remains impossible, teams carry patients on stretchers to safe zones, coordinating closely with snow removal crews.

Temperatures in Kars have recently dropped to minus 22 degrees Celsius at night, causing frost to form on residents' hair and creating widespread icing throughout the city. Wetlands have frozen over, while plants and trees are covered with frost. Giant icicles have formed on building roofs across the district.

The partially frozen Kars River has created striking visual scenes, with steam rising from the icy waters in the cold air.

Residents have taken precautions against the extreme cold, with some vehicle owners wrapping their cars in blankets. Several vehicles have experienced difficulty starting due to the freezing conditions.
