A mother and her daughter were left in fits of giggles after the little girl's hair stood bolt upright due to static electricity after she used a playground slide.

Footage captured by Jacky Ticomporn shows her adorable three-year-old kid, Kirin, lying flat on her back as she carefully glides down the blue spiral slide at a park in Samut Prakan, Thailand.

As Kirin sat up at the bottom of the slide, Jacky could be heard laughing at the sight of her daughter's hair standing completely on end on January 1.

Looking at her mum, Kirin stood up and joined in the laughter, seemingly delighted by her 'electrified' new look.

Static electricity occurs when there is an imbalance of positive and negative charges on the surface of an object. This is often caused by friction, such as when clothes rub against a plastic slide or when feet are rubbed across a carpet.
