"It's too complicated, you know. We are not interested in cooperating with kind of like, whose opinions was changing every final kind of like that." NUUK, GREENLAND - JAN. 13: Public reaction in Greenland intensifies on Tuesday, Jan. 13, after recent remarks by US President Donald Trump about the possibility of the Arctic island becoming part of the United States.

Local residents in Nuuk express concerns about the idea, pointing to Greenland’s relationship with Denmark and ongoing discussions about long-term political direction.

Several residents say they prefer the current arrangement under Danish administration and emphasize the importance of stability and security.

A woman says she prefers that the US president focus on domestic issues, including health care and living conditions, rather than attempting to take over another country. She adds that Greenland continues its path toward independence but values the security provided through its connection with Denmark.

A young resident expresses concern that US control could disrupt Greenland’s stability. He says he prefers the current arrangement with Denmark, which he describes as supportive.

Another resident says the situation is too complicated and states that he is not interested in cooperating with actors whose positions change frequently.

Greenland, a self-governing territory within the Kingdom of Denmark, has attracted US interest due to its strategic location and vast mineral resources.

Trump previously described owning Greenland as an "absolute necessity" for US economic security, likening it to a "large real estate deal."

Both Denmark and Greenland have rejected any proposals to sell the territory, reaffirming Danish sovereignty over the island.

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio is expected to meet with Danish and Greenland officials this week, according to the media reports.
