“It was Toprak Razgatlioglu’s night of pride. Everyone wanted to see him in MotoGP, and tonight he was officially introduced with his bike. We went to tests in Spain. In those tests, Toprak gave us signals about his MotoGP future. Tonight, journalists from different countries asked me what I see in Toprak, because three years ago, when we did an interview with you about your move to BMW, you told us that Toprak would become a world champion with BMW. At that time, no one but you believed it, but Toprak really became a world champion twice. So when they asked me what I think now, I can say this: Toprak has only come out officially once. The scenario I saw here showed me that Toprak has a very bright MotoGP future. Of course, it is too early to expect this in the 2026 season. When they asked what I expect from 2026, my answer was that in 2026 I hope to see Toprak on the podium. This could even be a win. Hopefully, we will be able to hear our national anthem in his first season. Hopefully, my dream is to see Toprak on the podium this year. Hopefully, we will see it many times. But the year when my expectations will increase is actually 2027. If we can complete 2026 with a podium, expectations for 2027 will be very high. Because Yamaha’s dream in 2026 is not to become MotoGP world champion; Yamaha’s dream for 2026 is to prepare the bike for the new rules that will be rewritten for 2027 and build the foundation for that bike. So the brand took a small step back to make preparations. Therefore, if Toprak reaches the podium under this plan, it will be a huge success.”

“This is a very special moment for us, brother, and of course, as you know, for the first time we are becoming a MotoGP rider. It is a very special moment; we can say our dreams are coming true. Because years ago we had this dream, but for us it was very far away. Now, we are exactly where we dreamed of. Hopefully everything will go well, because as you know everything is new for us. Especially after Superbike, everyone has big expectations in MotoGP. I am trying to reduce those expectations a little because it will be a learning year for us. MotoGP is completely different; there are many things we will learn. Our biggest goal is 2027. But of course, if we achieve something in the first season, if we get a podium, it will be amazing for us. Because we need some motivation too. With your support, we will try to get through this first year somehow. And I think we will enter 2027 in a stronger way. As you know, our number is no longer 54. We cannot continue with 54, because another rider uses 54 here. I was happy when I took 54 from Kenan brother and carried the flag, and we achieved very special things with it. We became world champion three times in Superbike. But I also wanted to continue in MotoGP. Since another rider uses 54 in MotoGP, we had to change. I was thinking about number 7. Number 7 was used by special riders before. But number 7 felt too simple to me, I did not like it much. We asked the organization for 07 and they accepted it. I was really happy, because 07 was the first number of my motorcycle career. And now I am using 07 again. Hopefully it brings us luck. Because we wrote history with number 54. Hopefully we will write history in MotoGP with 07 as well. Because that is my dream. I did not come here for a vacation. As you know, we represent our country; we raise our flag and we must raise it in the best way. I truly came here to represent my country, to raise our flag and especially to achieve good things and write history. Hopefully we will reach these dreams. This is the biggest dream of my life. They asked me before: if we searched your name ‘Toprak Razgatlioglu’ on Google, what would you like to see written there? I said I would love to see ‘World Superbike and MotoGP World Champion’. Hopefully, if it is written one day, we will all witness it together. Hopefully everything will go well. Thank you very much. Your support is very important for us. Because with you, we become stronger. And if we achieve something, we will achieve it together.” SIENA, ITALY - JAN. 13: Turkish motorcycle star Toprak Razgatlioglu’s Pramac Yamaha machine for the 2026 MotoGP season was unveiled in Siena, Italy, on Tuesday, Jan. 13. The event marks the official introduction of the bike Razgatlioglu will ride in his debut year in MotoGP, where he will compete with number 07.
Razgatlioglu, a three-time World Superbike champion, said the move to MotoGP represents a new beginning in his career. He described the 2026 season as a learning year and noted that the team’s primary target remains 2027.
“We have reached a very special moment,” he said. “Years ago this was only a dream, and now we are finally here. MotoGP is completely different, and there is a lot to learn. If we achieve a podium in the first season, it will be incredible for us. Our biggest goal is 2027. My number is now 07, the first number of my racing career, and I hope it brings us luck. We are not here for a vacation — we are here to represent our country and write history.”
Razgatlioglu explained that he switched from number 54 because it is already used by another MotoGP rider. He said returning to 07, the number he used at the start of his professional career, carries special significance as he looks to achieve historic results in the premier class.
Former world champion and coach Kenan Sofuoglu also spoke at the event, highlighting Razgatlioglu’s potential in MotoGP. Sofuoglu said that Razgatlioglu showed strong signs during recent tests in Spain and described 2026 as a transition year for Yamaha as the manufacturer prepares for the new regulations taking effect in 2027.
“Toprak has only made one official appearance so far, but what I saw in Spain tells me he has a very bright MotoGP future,” he said. “If he reaches the podium in 2026, it will be an exceptional achievement — even a win is possible. I hope we hear the Turkish national anthem in his first season. My expectation is higher for 2027. If he completes 2026 with a podium, 2027 will be a big year for him.”
Pramac Racing, which won the MotoGP teams’ championship in 2024, now prepares for a new chapter as Razgatlioglu joins the team for the 2026 season.
